About Me

Oh where to start.... My name is Shawna and I was born and raised in northern New York.

I always wanted to move out of state, so when I was 20 years old, I sold everything I owned, bought a 1964 tow behind camper for $250, gutted it, remodeled it, and moved south with my boyfriend and our two cats. I didn't know where we were going, but I knew it was what I was meant to be doing. We lived in campgrounds as we drove down the east coast, living free! We ended up coming back after a year, but I never forgot the feeling or lost that calling.

In October of 2021, after a year and a half of living through a global pandemic, and over a decade of dealing with depression and anxiety, I turned 40! How did this happen? Where did my life go? I felt like I had been sleeping for the last 5 years at least. It's not that I didn't live my life. I did. I went to college, got a great job, got a dog, got promoted up through the company, got married, then divorced, bought a house, went on vacations. But my life was lacking. I was sleepwalking. Living on auto pilot. So at the end of 2021 I decided to sell my house, bought a camper and hit the road! This is my journey!

I feel like I had to leave my community in order to find my community. Whether you are already a part of the traveling/RV/camping community, or you want to be, or are just interested in hearing people's stories, I'm so glad you are here. I have met some of the kindest, most interesting people on this journey! It brings me such a sense of purpose knowing my story is inspiring to others, and might encourage someone to take the leap and live their life! Because, guess what? You can do it! By yourself! Will it be hard? Yes. Will it be worth it? Hell Yes!
